Mate /u/Goose511th, are you still palying it? Love how slow the ships are, gives you a sense of scale. The game lasted well beyond its lifespan, but the X-Wing series of games just…stopped coming out, meaning space flight sims faded away. Replaying X-Wing Alliance with XWAUP definitely has me more hyped for Squadrons :D. It was a huge success, due to its immersive storyline, amazing graphics(for its time, lol) and multiplayer fun. Just a heads up about the steam version and XWAU (or DSCUP).
XWAUP also made the ships faster and more maneuverable, the AI is just not built for it so it utterly broke the campaign. Yup, just bought the game and installed everything a few days ago. What do I need to do to fix that? Yeah, I just got into this a little over a week ago after seeing someone else post about it. It works, but the configuration screen runs kind of funky on Windows 10 since it's so old. Other tips include wrangling your controller, screen resolution, and more.
